A weekend windy grey weather with nothing new on the migration front, still waiting to join the Wheatear club!!
Noted over the weekend were 3 Shelducks, 6 Cetti's Warblers, 2 Black-tailed Godwits, 3 Hen Harriers including a superb first summer male, a pair of Pochards, 4 pairs of Tufted Duck and the pair of Pintail joined by another drake. Chiffchaffs are in full song with at least three between the entrance and the Ramp. There were 120 Mute Swans out of roost, 3 Green Sandpipers, 5 Little Egrets, 1 Sparrowhawk, 21 Snipe, 1 Bittern, 1 Little Grebe and 7 Marsh Harriers. On Saturday there were just 2 Water Pipits seen but today, with the Koniks close to Marsh hide, there were at least 10 Water Pipits around their feet with another 3 from the Ramp. Other bits included 6 singing Skylarks, a single call from 1 Bearded Tit, 3 Common Buzzards, 5 Corn Buntings, 6 Wigeon west, a lone singing! Greenfinch and a pair Of Bullfinches.
