August 26th

A brief visit to stodmarsh this morning and it was a lot quieter than yesterday. The other Great crested grebe chick is back and there was another one near tower hide so 3 in total. There were 5 chiffchaff near basils bench and 1 Great spotted woodpecker. 1 Common Sandpiper flew across the lake and also 1 Little Egret.1 Kingfisher near tower hide and 1 kestrel. I went along the boarded walk where i saw yesterdays young Grass snake and there was an adult not far off sloughing, see the eyes in the photo, it was one of the largest i have seen for a long time. As i approached the wood bridge going to the car park a Mink was on the bridge, it looked like a youngster which is a bit worrying.
